Benedict "Father" Uno is the archnemesis of the Kids Next Door and Numbuh One's uncle. His ultimate goal is to destroy the Kids Next Door so that adults can rule the world unopposed.

Overview[]

In Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL, Father is an unlockable character, unlocked by winning 42 matches or completing story mode. His in-game bio states that Father is a powerful character with average speed.

Strategy[]

Pros[]

  • One of the fastest frame data averages
  • Highly notable damage output average
  • Earliest non-PTE or item kill move in the game with neutral signature

Cons[]

  • PTE is incredibly situational (Wii Version only)
  • Notable lack of range, no proper projectile; can't clash out a multitude of other attacks
  • Terrible recovery

Father is a character with great damage and rapid speeds, but lacks any serious ranged moves or projectiles giving him a playstyle that primarily focuses on rushdown. His neutral signature, "punch" is one of the highest damaging attacks in the game and THE strongest signature move in terms of raw damage and kill power. It is the earliest non-PTE/item kill move in the game and comes out relatively fast despite this power.

Father is capable of doing relatively small combos and racks up major damage. He will tend to advance towards opponents with his side signature which is a speedy move that can combo with his other powerful moves such as his knockout attacks. All of his knockout attacks deal above 14% uncharged and as a result always drop 4 power cubes. Father also finds decent use in his aerial attacks which can be used to push opponents or combo with any of the knockout attacks.

Father highly struggles when it comes to range. All of his attacks, except for down signature, involve melee attacks and aren't particularly disjointed in a noticeable way. This leaves him highly open to attacks that are otherwise disjointed making him lose most of the time in "attacking priority." Father also struggles against characters that can outrange him with projectile attacks especially those with higher fire rates such as Johnny Bravo, Aku, and Grim. He is however somewhat capable against characters that do not have these tools like other rushdowns such as Blossom, Samurai Jack, and even Captain K'nuckles to a certain extent. Overall, Father is a very powerful character who has high damaging power and is one of the fastest characters in the game but his lack of ranged options and terrible vertical recovery are what hold him back from being considered a high or top tier option.

Bio[]

Fathe is the archnemesis of the KND organization. It was revealed to fans in the first KND movie, Operation: Z.E.R.O., that Father's name was Benedict Uno and he is the uncle of Numbuh One.

Possessing several superpowers and fire-based abilities, Father is an intimidating figure to any kid, unless you try to feed him broccoli, which usually causes him to curl up into a ball.

In PTE, Father is a powerful character with average speed.

Bio Stats[]

  • Speed: 3/5
  • Power: 5/5
  • Air: 1/5
  • Range: 2/5

Explanation[]

These stats are provided in the game in character bios. They do not affect gameplay at all and can sometimes be misleading or need an explanation.

  • Father is a very speedy character, including his more powerful attacks, with his neutral signature being the only one with significant start up (which is still a powerful move in its own right). The 3/5 is due to his running speed being somehwat average which can be counteracted with his side signature. 5/5 would be a better reflection of speed.
  • Father's knockout attacks and neutral signature deal significant damage, his neutral signature being the earliest kill move of all non-PTE or item based attacks in the game. On average, his moveset as a whole isn't as great and mighty as Vilgax or the super forms in power, but still highly notable. 4/5 would be a passable reflection of power.
  • Father has an overall poor recovery in terms of distance regardless of which signature he uses to recover. He does, however, come equipped with powerful aerial attacks that are below average in speed. With this in mind, 2/5 would be a passable reflection of air.
  • Father is a character largely focused on melee attacks and has no projectile and can only really close in with his side signature. Otherwise, he may try and destroy projectiles or create some distance with his down signature.

Movelist[]

Signature Attacks[]

Neutral: Pyro Punch

  • Father cloaks his fist in flames while being surrounded in a fiery aura and unleashes a punch. Deals 24% and creates 4 power cubes.
    • Like many attacks, this move hits significantly behind him. This move is far more flexible than it looks and KOs very early. Find a way to implement this attack in your game plan without repeated use, as the startup leaves you vulnerable.

Side: Flaming Kick

  • Father quickly dashes forward with his leg extended while being surrounded by a fiery aura. Deals 10% and creates 2 power cubes.

Up: Ignition Rocket

  • Father surrounds himself in a fiery aura and elevates upwards. Deals 15% and creates 4 power cubes.

Down: Jet Stream

  • Father reaches out both arms while in a fiery aura and summons a fire stream that goes a set distance. Deals constant damage of 1%, totaling 10% if the whole move connects. However, this move can be shielded during use.

Punch Time Explosion: Inferno Blast[]

Father surrounds himself in a fiery aura and causes an explosion dealing 40%. In the Wii version, the fire projectiles will mostly be launched out into the background, but hit at a specific spot which deals 20%. It is currently unknown how, but AI players have demonstrated the ability to shoot these fire projectiles in all directions with their PTE as originally intended. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version also shoots the projectiles normally making those versions more viable for Father.

In the 3DS version, Father summons an aura of flame and blasts a series of meteors at anyone who gets in his way.

Synergy: Fuzzy Lumpkins[]

Fuzzy Lumpkins starts shooting in a frenzy, turning opponents into meat if shot. Father is controllable like normal during the synergy, only he gains invulnerability. Grabbing meat opponents will cause Father to toss the opponent above him and "roast" them, dealing 50%, creating 4 power cubes.

Quotes[]

  • "I won't stop until I destroy the Kids Next Door!"
  • "I gave you quite the spanking!"
  • "Just another step until adults... rule the world!"
  • "Well now, here we go!"
  • "My head is ring-a-ding-dinging."
  • "See you later!"

Trivia[]

  • Unlike most characters who have two or three lines when performing a Punch Time Explosion, Father only has one.
  • Oddly, while Father's flame colors change depending on the color skin used, this won't affect AI players as their flame color will always be the default.
  • Father's neutral special functions similarly to Captain Falcon's Falcon Punch in every Smash Bros. game.
